Universal TPP on a 2010 Hobie Revo & Oasis

I’ve had this motor for a couple years and it works out great for me. Several members of the kayak fishing club I was in and I bought them before I moved from NY. They put a lot more hours on theirs than I do mine. I fish with them a week every year and they are sill going strong.I’m almost 70 and most of the time fish alone. I’m not looking to tow a water skier, I just want to enjoy the day without worrying that I’ll be fighting the wind or tide or both when I head back in. The TPP does that. Most trips I hardly use it, I’d rather get the exercise. I barely know it’s there when I don’t use it, but if I need it , it easily cancels out the headwind. I consider it safety equipment. I eventually had a problem with it. I paid the diagnostic/return fee and was sent a return label. The same fee also pays for the diagnosis and shipping back to you. I was honestly surprised and impressed how far TPP went to get me back on the water. 3 bolts and I can switch it if I want to use the tandem. Also, I used to use a 13” x 13” milk crate. The battery had to go diagonal and took up most of the space. I got the 16” x 13” Yak Attack black box and put a dowel in the middle. The battery fits fine and I have plenty of room for trays of lures.

Hi Tom, thank you for sharing your experience! We're delighted to hear that our propulsion system has been reliable and helpful for your kayak fishing adventures. We appreciate your support and hope you enjoy many more fun days on the water!

Installed on Hobie Tandem Island

Install is relatively easy, but a set of basic instructions of where to mount the motor would help. Facts like the battery will not over heat with lid closed and fan running. It will also float if it ends up in lake.
I put it on a Hobie Tandem Island (18ft with outriggers) and have only used it in calm waters so far, but was very impressed with the speed it had. Much faster than pedaling by myself. I usually sail by myself and when windy I have trouble getting out of the bay with a headwind by myself. Hoping this will assist in getting me to main body of water.

Gen 3 XL Universal Propulsion System for all Kayaks w/ steerable rudders & fins

I installed a Gen 3 XL Universal Propulsion System on my 2018 Hobie Outback with the twist and stow rudder. Installation was ery easy. Just drill a couple holes in the Hobie rudder and install nuts and bolts. It allows a 70 year old guy stay on the water longer. Very please with the customer service at TexasPowerPaddle. I highly recommend them.
